This handsome dagger was hand-forged by Chris as an experiment in creating a more historically accurate parrying dagger facsimile for fencing use. The blades are stiff, and to be used exclusively for parrying in measured exchanges.
The blade is forged to shape with a historical weight and mass distribution, and a swollen button tip. The dagger features a hollow, forged pommel based on a common historical shape. The crossguard is forged to shape, with a hot-punched tang slot hot-fitted to the tang. The protective ring departs from the originals, being welded rather than brazed to increase their durability, ensuring a long-lasting and robust fencing tool.
The decorative carving on the quillon tips is based on historical motifs. The guard is heat-treated to be sturdy and long-lasting, and should be used to intercept a great many strikes!
